Never need a reason, Never need a rhyme

STEP IN TIME, YOU STEP IN TIME!

So I saw Mary Poppins Last night. Amazing.
I really really enjoyed it, I'd had my doubts about some of the casting but they all were fantastic.
Perfect choices.
Verity Hunt-Ballard was 'Practically Perfect in Every way' in her lead role as Mary Poppins.
Matt Lee was loved by all as the cheeky Bert
Marina Prior was an extremely beautiful and talented Mrs Banks
and Phillip Quast (!!!) played the career focused Mr Banks.

I knew that it wasn't much like the movie, so I wasn't disappointed like many people are when they see the show. I enjoyed the differences and thought that a lot of the new songs were quite fun.

After the show, I went to the stage door (as i do) to meet the cast (specifically Phillip Quast) in person.

Matt Lee ran out quite fast, clearly in a rush to get somewhere, but not before smiling and saying hi to my mum and me.
Verity Hunt-Ballard snuck out as well and we let her go (shame)
Marina Prior then came out and I got a photo and an autograph
and then the wait began for Mr Quast.

we waited and waited and waited.
everyone else waiting at stage door had left.
majority of the cast had left.
majority of the Her Maj Staff had left.
I refused to leave.

we had been waiting for about half an hour when one of the cast members walked past and asked if we were waiting for someone, we told him who and he asked the door man if he had signed out yet and that we were waiting.

He hadn't left. we were still in luck.

a few minutes later i saw him coming out. he signed out and the door man pointed in our direction. Phillip looked and then came out.
His first word to us were "I am -so- sorry for keeping you waiting" and then he stood there talking to us for about 10 minutes.
He is one of the nicest most amazing guys I've ever met. I truly thought he would walk out, sign my book, take a photo and leave. but he was in no rush to leave at all.
He hung around and talked about his recent trip to Malta for a movie, how he is enjoying doing Mary, why he is enjoying it and other things alike.
After watching him for 20 years, (literally my whole life) first way way back on Play School and then later in theater shows. (mainly Les Mis, best Javert EVER) I finally got to see him perform live annnnnd then meet him. Pretty safe to say that last night was the best night of 2011 so far =D
If you haven't already i -highly- suggest going to see Mary Poppins while you can.

  1. Hi -- I happened to see your youtube post on Mary Poppins, and just want to say that I also went to see Mary Poppins for Philip Quast! first I wasn't too sure about him being in a Disney show, but it was totally awesome! HE was totally awesome! I started with his Javert about 15 years ago and the moment when I finally got to meet the man was surreal. Lucky that he got to talk to you guys for 10 mins -- I was so tongue-tied (as always) and I looked/ felt totally stupid lol! And the night I was waiting, he was also one of the last ones to come out! One of the greatest nights of my life!
